Former HOLE Frontwoman Lands 'Fantasy Violinist'

June 4, 2003

Former HOLE frontwoman Courtney Love has recruited "fantasy violinist" Emilie Autumn, a ravishing, classically trained musician, for her new solo band, which is scheduled to make its live debut this summer.

Last month, Love placed a classified ad in the Village Voice, seeking a guitarist and drummer for a new project, with the requirement that they "look like a goddess."

Love, who has reportedly signed a North American solo deal with Virgin Records (the singer was already signed to Poptones/Telstar in the U.K.),has spent the past few months recording her solo debut, "America's Sweetheart", in France with producer Jim Barber for an expected fall release. A number of tracks on the CD were reportedly co-written with 4 NON BLONDES' Linda Perry, who has penned hits for PINK and CHRISTINA AGUILERA. In addition, Love is said to have recorded a cover of Kim Carnes' 1981 #1 hit "Bette Davis Eyes" for possible inclusion on the album.

"America's Sweetheart" will be Love's first full-length release since her band HOLE's 1998 swan song, "Celebrity Skin". That set debuted at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.35 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
